Development Log 14/01/2024

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog. :)

I'm writing a shorter post this time as it has been a relatively slow week. I spent most of my time working from home but took part in a peer review which was a great opportunity to see other students work for our module. Another highlight of my week was getting the chance to see my friend play a gig at a local pub!

As for what I've been working on this week, I spent a couple of days finishing the back view of my Jester character. I completed the shading and highlights and now only have to do a side view to complete the turnaround. Later in the week I started blocking out some poses of the character from different angles and began working out the detail.

  • Image 1: Completed front and back views of my jester inspired character in an A pose. This character is part of a project I'm working on for my Master's at the moment, I've been heavily referencing the Guilty Gear games for this character.

  • Image 2: This is a page of sketches of the jester. In the bottom left is the jester crawling out of a pool of paint. The middle and right drawings are of the jester holding a large paintbrush weapon, drawn at different angles.

I'm going to set myself a few goals for this coming week, which is not something I frequently do but it is something I'd like to do more. I believe writing a few small achievable goals will help boost my motivation. So my goals are:

  • Complete the side view for the character reference sheet

  • Practice figure drawing

  • Update my portfolio

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read through my blog! I'll be back next week with (hopefully) more work to share!
